For the first time in Liberty School history, we will host a Christian concert. The concert features some big name bands in the Christian music industry: The David Crowder Band, Shane & Shane, and Remedy Drive. The concert is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30, at the University of North Texas University’s Super Pit.

The David Crowder Band is a great band that we are privileged to have headlining. They are arguably one of the catchiest sounding bands in the Christian mainstream with unusual instruments such the Thereminn (an “Old School” synthesizer operated without any contact and controlled by hand movements between two antennas), turntables, and the electric violin. They recently came out with the CD “Church Music,” which features more dance and electronic music. The Liberty Concert is named after their cover of the song “How He Loves,” originally by John Mark McMillan, which hit No. 17 on the Billboard Christian Music Charts.

The main supporting band is Shane & Shane. They make mostly acoustic- based worship music, which is great for helping people get close to God. They recently released a CD “Everything is Different” that is filled with many touching, heartfelt songs that people attending will look forward to hearing at the concert.

The opening act will be Remedy Drive. They are the only band on the lineup not from Texas, but from Lincoln, Neb. They are a four-piece pop-rock band that just released their first CD on a major record label, after releasing their previous six completely Independent. They have a single “All Along” that reached No. 1 on Christian Contemporary Hit Radio. This band is sure to please more of the younger attendees due to their Indie-Pop-Rock influences. They should put on a great show so make sure you are there early enough to see them!

Tickets are $35 for floor seats and $25 for general admission. There are 5,000 tickets available for the event, with 500 set aside for Liberty students and families, which are available now before notification of the general public. If you are planning on going, you can buy your tickets at www.ticketweb.com. For questions, please talk to Chris Searcy in his office.
