Liberty Students Sing at the Meyerson
Twenty-two schools in the D/FW area, including Liberty, sang in the 2010 Metroplex Children Choir’s concert last Saturday. The choir, made up of 12 students from each of the schools, performed at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, one of the top three symphony halls in the world.
The Metroplex Children’s Choir began with Ann Smith, Liberty’s Chorale director. She said, “The Metroplex Children’s Choir Concert was amazing!
“The 260 children sounded like angels!” Smith said. “They were absolutely breathtaking. We had more than 1,000 people at our concert, and I know the Lord Almighty was there as well.”
elementary aged children and provide them with the opportunity to sing in a world-class venue with a world-class conductor, offering an advanced repertoire not available in a daily school setting.
“I talked to some of the Decatur students after the concert, and one of the boys said, ‘I had goose bumps when we sang.’ That is awesome — that is the Holy Spirit.
“The Liberty Christian Chorale and the Decatur High School Choir blew everyone’s socks off with the power of their singing and the pipe organ.
“It was absolutely stunning,” she added.
The Liberty Christian Chorale and the Decatur High School Choir were selected to be the Prelude choir. They sang to the younger children to begin the performance to inspire the younger children to continue in music throughout their high school career.
Save the date for next year’s performance of the Metroplex Children’s Choir on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas. The Liberty Chorale will again be the prelude choir.
