Freshman Class Departs on Monday for Annual Tour of Colleges
The freshman class at Liberty benefit every year by traveling for three days to tour colleges in the Texas/Oklahoma region. Michelle Smith, ninth and tenth grade advisor, hopes the trip enhances the students’ view of college and their desire to attend a four-year university.
During the tour of colleges, students will learn specific information on the various campuses regarding course requirements, grade point average, class rank, transcripts, and the importance of leadership, community service, and involvement in student organizations. They will also learn about the college admissions process.
Students depart on Monday, Feb. 22, and will travel that day for tours at Texas A&M and Baylor. Tuesday’s itinerary includes visiting Howard Payne in Brownwood, and then onto Abilene to tour Hardin-Simmons University and Abilene Christian University. On Wednesday, students will travel to Norman, Okla., to tour the University of Oklahoma before returning to Liberty that afternoon.
Ten staff member chaperones will accompany the students on the trip, which always proves to be an important, memorable milestone in a student’s life at Liberty.
