A Second Grader’s Perspective on CCA Trip

The story below was written by hand by Liberty second grader Connor Jeffers. He and his fellow second graders took a field trip with their teachers and parent helpers, but the field trip was really more like a mission trip. The students visited an organization in Lewisville that provides food and other important services to those in need, but in addition to the visit, the students donated to the organization’s pantry sacks full of food totaling 3,500 pounds, which is 1.75 tons! The second grade teachers and students made a difference that day and learned some important things as well.

Second Grade Mission Trip
By Connor Jeffers

My class and all of second grade went to CCA for a mission trip. CCA stands for Christian Community Action. They’re celebrating CCA’s 37th anniversary.

At the pantry, it’s like one big pile of food. The people of CCA use play money to buy food at the pantry. The pantry is like a grocery store.

Next, we went to the freezer right next door to the pantry. We even got to go in the freezer. It was so cold in there. I really liked it!

Next, we went to the care center. They had a dentist and a doctor. There was even a school for grown-ups. CCA can also find you a job and a home.

We took so much food —imagine the pantry now, overflowing with food.

Thank you, second grade.
