Liberty Students Return from Successful Mission Trip to Ireland
During Spring Break, Liberty mission teams traveled to Ireland to work with churches, Christian schools, nursing homes, and orphanages. On the trip, 146 Upper School students and 54 adults served as ambassadors for Christ overseas.
“God was proclaimed greatly wherever we went,” said Claire Batey, eighth grade English teacher. She said as a Liberty chaperone, she was constantly being asked, “Where do you get kids like this – they are joyful, hardworking, and love each other.”
She added that the choir going this year added a wonderful new dimension to the trip as well.
Liberty Chorale performed throughout Ireland and worked alongside their fellow students doing manual labor at different locations and creating lasting friendships with the people they met.
The mission teams displayed their love for Christ not only through the conversations they had with the people of Ireland, but through their actions as well.
“There are so many stories to tell of lives being changed, tears being shed, and understanding what God’s love and sacrifice really is,” said Ann Smith, Upper School choir director.
Liberty teams spent some of their time at Limerick Christian School. Liberty’s visit helped the school to rejuvenate and expand their vision to what their small school might be in the future. Upon returning to Texas, Liberty’s Upper School Youth Pastor Chris Searcy received an e-mail from Dorothy Hall, the principal of the Ireland school.
In the e-mail she thanks Chris for the wonderful work the teams performed at Limerick Christian, and acknowledges that she knows “very well that you all did it as unto the Lord.”
The letter reports that her school is excited about adopting Liberty’s warrior mascot and making it theirs as well. “We will both be LCS Warriors,” Hall said.
Limerick Christian School hopes to send five seniors from Ireland to Liberty’s campus in Argyle this fall.
