Fort Worth Southwest Christian won the state title with a two-day total of 316-317—633. The Warriors (318-322—640) tied with San Antonio Incarnate Word for the runner-up spot but was relegated to third by a scorecard playoff.

Liberty’s Ty Dunlap shot a 73-73—146, which tied for first place individually with Andrew Presley of Southwest Christian. However, Dunlap lost on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.

The Warriors have won the state title seven times in the past 12 years, and have had eight individual champions during that span.

“We just can’t do it every time,” said Liberty head coach Larry Frank. “Ben [Dowling] and Ty played a superb round. We just didn’t put the ball in the right place on the fairways. We didn’t leave ourselves with some good shots.”

Dowling finished fourth overall at 81-74—155, while fellow senior Greg Polledri was sixth at 78-80—158. Austin Scott shot 86-95—181, and Jared Sutter carded rounds of 97-96—193.
