It is official! Liberty Christian School has won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ Henderson Cup for the seventh year!

In each TAPPS division, the Henderson Cup is an award presented to the overall top school of the year in academics, fine arts, and athletics. Liberty Christian students have earned this award for six of the past seven years.

Liberty President and Co-Founder Dr. Rodney Haire said, “To win No. 1 in TAPPS as the Overall Best School is a great accomplishment, but to win it six years out of seven is phenomenal. This achievement represents to our Liberty family how talented the students are in academics, fine arts, and athletics. Way to go students, teachers, coaches and parents — this accomplishment is a great victory, and confirms that we are all becoming what the Lord intended us to be!”

Middle School Principal Dr. Martin Noto said, “I am always pleased when Liberty’s mission is validated by winning this prestigious honor. It casts a positive reflection on the families and students we serve, and on the dedication of our faculty.”

Each Liberty student will receive a TAPPS 4A overall champion shirt today. Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 19, students will wear their shirts to school and attend an all-school assembly at 1:15 p.m. in the competition gym.

During the year, more than 30 schools in the TAPPS 4A division acquired points in academic, fine arts, and athletic competitions that contributed toward schools’ overall standing.

State championships in girls soccer and boys track, as well as high rankings in other team sports and individual fine arts and academic competitions, all contributed toward Liberty’s overall ranking in the 4A division.

Athletic Director Greg Price said, “I am proud of the efforts of our athletes, parents, and coaches who trained, sacrificed, and competed to win this award. This honor is only attainable through the great collaboration of the entire school. This award reinforces and proves our commitment to excellence in all we do on and off the playing field. Great job Warriors!”
