Warrior Football Wins 70-58 over Bishop Dunne
DALLAS — Liberty Christian maintained its hopes for the playoffs on Friday night, surviving a wild game in claiming a 70-58 win over Bishop Dunne at Earl Hayes Stadium on Oct. 15.
The Warriors (5-2, 2-2) put up 514 yards of total offense and outscored the Falcons in three of the four quarters.
Bishop Dunne (4-3, 1-2) lost despite 632 yards passing and six touchdown throws from quarterback Tony Brodner, who also rushed for 81 yards and two more scores.
“We expected Dunne was going to play us hard and they did,” said Liberty Christian head coach Greg Price. “But our guys stepped up with big plays when we needed them most, and this was a game we needed to have to stay in the playoff chase.”
Liberty Christian got an outstanding game from quarterback Josh Cousins, who threw for 306 yards and five touchdowns. Most of those passes went to Rylee Brown, with Brown finishing with seven catches for 162 yards and three scores.
Brett Metzler also had a solid game, rushing for 89 yards, catching a 39-yard touchdown pass and scoring on an 80-yard kick return.
