NSight, the annual Middle and Upper School’s spiritual emphasis week in the fall begins today. Students meet for an hour each morning for praise, worship, and insight.

Matt Bowles, Middle School youth pastor, said, “We hope to deepen students’ relationship with Jesus.”

Leading in praise and worship is the Roger Cullins Band. Roger Cullins has led worship across the nation at various churches and events, seeking to encourage people with the hope, love, and presence of God. Previously, Cullins led worship weekly and directed the bands and singers at Houston’s First Baptist Church, where he served on staff for more than five years. In January 2010, Cullins launched his current ministry of leading worship and equipping and encouraging worship ministries.

Cullins’ newest original album, “Songs of the Savior,” was inspired by life experiences in his personal walk with the Lord.

Cullins graduated from Howard Payne University in 2003 with a BA in Communications, and has since studied at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The speaker for NSight is Afshin Ziafat. Ziafat was born in Houston, Texas, but moved with his family back to their native Iran when he was two years old. They returned to Houston in the midst of the Islamic Revolution in Iran when he was in the second grade. At that time, he was given a Bible by a tutor who was teaching him the English language. He read that Bible 10 years later as a senior in high school and came to faith in Christ. His conversation to Christianity was only the beginning on his journey to understand what it would look like to follow Christ. Ultimately, his family would disown him because of his faith in Christ.

Ziafat received his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Master of Divinity with Biblical languages degree from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth.

Currently, Ziafat resides in Dallas with this wife, Meredith. He is the founder of Afshin Ziafat Ministries and travels nationally and internationally proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in churches, retreats, camps, conferences, and missions. Ziafat speaks weekly at Truth Bible Study at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He also partners with Elam Ministries and travels into the Middle East regularly to train Iranian pastors. Ziafat’s passion is to teach the Word of God as the authority and guide for life, to preach Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Redeemer of mankind, and to proclaim the love of Christ as the greatest treasure and hope in life.
