Boys Basketball Succeeds at Tournament
By Lance Burroughs, Assistant Boys Basketball Coach
This past weekend the Warriors competed in the Scott Bagg Invitational at Keller Central High School. Overall, the Warriors went 3-1 defeating Fort Worth Poly, cross town rival Fort Worth Christian, and Lufkin Hudson.
The Warriors were led by senior Kyle Kuykendall who was later named to the all-tournament team, marking the third time he has received an all-tournament award this season.
Senior Eric Heidelman once again had a strong showing throughout the tournament along with senior Pres McKissack who scored a career high 15 points.
Key contributions were also made by senior Hunter Dansby, senior Joe Honeysett, and junior Brad Horton.
The highlight of the entire weekend, however, was located inside the Scott Bagg tournament program. The tournament director set aside an entire page in memory of Liberty boys basketball coach Richard Scofield, who passed away in March. Coach Scofield impacted more than just Liberty Christian families, and seeing this page in the program was a testament of the impact that he had on everyone he knew.
The Warriors will step on new grounds today, Dec. 17, as they play their very first district game in TAPPS 5A at Nolan Catholic at 7:30 p.m.
