Students Place in Science Competition

By Heather Lytle, Science Department Chair
Last month, 45 Liberty science students traveled to the Greenhill Science Olympiad Invitational in Addison, Texas. Pairs of students competed against more than 50 teams in 50-plus events throughout the day. This practice tournament was key to preparing for regional competition in March.
Students participated with a partner in written exams, wet laboratories, and “build-it” events such as Tower Building, Chemistry Lab, Write It/Do It, and Anatomy. Liberty sponsored three teams in 1 Division C (9th–12th graders) and 2 Division B (7th–9th graders). We are excited about the interest that is building in the Middle School!
Liberty is proud to announce its medal winners:
Eighth graders Tiffany Lu and Jason Clemons: Second Place in Compute This
Eighth grader Jackson Hart and seventh grader Todd Deetjen: Fourth Place in Mystery Architecture
Freshmen Nevan Simone and Rusty Vittrup: Second Place in Solar System
Senior Colby Edson and 10th grader Logan McDivitt: Fourth Place in Mousetrap Car
