Theatre Takes First in Competition
Liberty Christian’s Upper School Theatre Group, “Encore,” took first place in a speech tournament last weekend at the Stone Gate Christian Academy in Irving.
Fine Arts Department Chair Misty Baptiste said, “Encore enjoyed a huge success winning by 345 points.
“I am very, very proud of our students.”
This tournament served as the qualifying tournament for the District TAPPS competition to be held in February at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas.
She noted that many skills are learned as students compete. “As students prepare for competition, they learn many elements of speaking and presentation skills, creativity, imagination, and time-management,” Baptiste said.
