DanzTeam Performs on Cruise
Liberty’s DanzTeam recently returned from a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, where they performed onstage before guests of the cruise.
DanzTeam Director Julie Price said, “Performing on a new stage in a new environment takes great talent, courage, and professionalism.”
DanzTeam captain and senior Lauren Lundblade said, “Our performance included 12 different routines ranging from solos and duets to team routines and ensembles.”
DanzTeam member and sophomore Clara Burr-Lonnon said, “The Liberty Danzteam set the standard – even the cruise’s show dancers commented on how good our team looked.”
The team also took a dance class with one of the cruise dancers.
“The class was a great opportunity for our team because the cruise dancers are from other countries, and their style of teaching and dance is very different than ours in the United States,” Price said.
Every four years, the DanzTeam enjoys a cruise together and performs. Price began the tradition 12 years ago, with this trip being her third.
Price, who took the largest group to date of 75, said one of the great outcomes of the trip is teambuilding.
“Cruises are affordable and family-oriented. We eat together, play together, and relax together,” she said. “It’s the best thing for a team and their families. Cruises help the team become even a stronger ‘Danz family.’”
Price said the cruise is also an opportunity to accept the journey that God provides on the trip.
“He is in charge of the weather and the experiences that we have together,” she said.
Lundblade concluded, “The cruise was such a fun experience for all of us. Many of us had never been on a cruise, so it was exciting to get to share that first time experience with our teammates. The trip was fun and exciting for all!”
