Science Fair Brings Awards and Astronaut

Liberty Christian’s Middle School students showcased their knowledge and dedication to the field of science recently at the annual Liberty Christian Science Fair. Students designed and ran their own experiments, and communicated their findings to judges. 

Judges were impressed with the quality of the display boards and the level of data collection. 

Awards in every category of science including Animal Science, Medicine and Health, Physics, and Environmental Science were presented at the awards program. Guest speaker, NASA Astronaut Jeff Williams, shared his experiences on the International Space Station. 

Congratulations to the Best of Fair winners: 

First Place: Cameron Brasher, eighth grade, Environmental Science – “Oil Drill! Oil Spill!”

Second Place: Dara Fuller, seventh grade, Environmental Management – “Birdie Bubble Bath”

Third Place: Megan McDivitt, eighth grade, Chemistry – “Minerals of a Lifetime” 

All ribbon winners will advance to the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair on Feb. 20–21. 

In addition, Liberty’s science department looks forward to competing at the high school science bowl this weekend and the junior science bowl in March, both at Texas A&M. Liberty students will also compete at the Regional Science Olympiad at North Lake College in Irving on March 26.
