Congratulations to the Warriors baseball team for its second place finish in the James Taylor Classic last weekend. The tournament was run by Denton Ryan High School, and for the first time, Liberty Christian School helped host the tournament and was the second site for pool play games.

The Warriors were in a pool that included Haltom, Byron Nelson, Irving Nimitz, and Frisco Liberty. The boys went undefeated in pool play and outscored their opponents by a score of 35 to 25.

Finishing first in its pool put the Warriors in a championship game with 2010 4A semi-finalist Frisco Wakeland.

Wakeland is ranked in the top 5 in 4A public school pools. After a very close game, the boys eventually fell to Wakeland, 11-6. The Warriors second place finish, however, did not take away from the fact that the Warriors played five games well in the tournament.

Coach Johnny Isom said, “The baseball coaching staff would like to thank all of the parents and kids who volunteered their time to the James Taylor Classic,” he said. “The tournament was a huge success, and we received many positive compliments about playing at Integrity Park.”

The boys head to Killeen for the Shoemaker tournament this weekend, March 6.
