Chorale Performs its Way to State
The Regional Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Competition for choir was hosted by Liberty Christian on Wednesday, March 2.
“The Chorale did very well at the TAPPS regional contest,” said Ann Smith, Chorale director.
Many of the Liberty students were awarded the score of a I, which means they advance to the state competition that will be held April 8 and 9 in Belton, Texas.
The TAPPS competition is a way for all of those in choir to be judged on a standard of excellence. Fine Arts is very important to Liberty Christian, and students have been working toward this competition since August, becoming better musicians so they would be prepared.
The criteria used in scoring a performance include many aspects, from musicianship, memory, pitch and rhythm accuracy, posture, professionalism, etc. A score of one (I) is for a superior performance, and those students who score a I proceed to state. A score of two (II) is given for an excellent performance, a three (III) is awarded for a good performance, and a four (IV) is given for a poor performance.
