Liberty Students are Guatemala Bound
More than 100 students and sponsors from Liberty Christian School have chosen to spend their Spring Break to serve and minister Guatemala, a country where 70 percent of its 12 million inhabitants are below the poverty line, 45 percent of those inhabitants are children, and 370,000 of those children are orphans.
In Guatemala, students plan to help with building homes and painting and renovating churches, as well as witnessing through street evangelism and drama.
Liberty is in its 15th year of taking students overseas on a mission trip during Spring Break.
Liberty Upper School youth pastor Chris Searcy said he takes students on mission trips because “it is God’s call and challenge to His followers. We go because Christ commanded us to go and ‘be witnesses to the ends of the earth’ as Jesus said in Acts, Chapter 1, just before He ascended.”
Searcy added, “Year after year we continuously find ourselves overwhelmed at God’s faithful hand and how He works in the lives of students on this trip, and in the families of the communities where we serve.”
