Softball Posts Strong District Win
The Lady Warriors are now 3-1 in district and 13-5 overall after a decisive district win over John Paul II last night, 28-3.
“Pitcher Rachel Rainwater and catcher Kelsie Finch had great chemistry yesterday,” said head coach Stephanie Ritter. “They both worked very hard and struck out seven batters.”
Sophomore Anna Payne hit a homerun and went 5-2 with seven RBIs. Senior Kasi Sallee was 5-3 with two RBIs, junior Kelsie Finch was 4-2, senior Caitlyn Spain was 4-2 with two RBIs, senior Kristen Wheeler was 4-2 with two RBIs, and freshman Rachel Rainwater was 4-2 with two RBIs. Freshman Marian Otto posted her first district single with one RBI.
“The Lady Warriors are hitting the ball hard and playing their game,” said Ritter. “They are a great group of young ladies and a blessing to coach. We take care of business and have fun doing it.”
The Lady Warriors next home games are Thursday, March 31, and Friday, April 1, both at 4:30 p.m.
“These are both district games, and we would love to see Liberty families in the stands supporting our girls,” said Ritter.
In other softball news, the Lady Warriors defeated district rival Bishop Dunne on Monday, 21-0.
Head softball coach Stephanie Ritter said, “We had many outstanding players in this game against Bishop Dunne.”
Junior Kelsie Finch hit a two-run home run, junior McKenzie Middle was four and four at the plate with two RBIs, senior Savannah Ewing had a triple and three RBIs, sophomore Anna Payne hit a triple and a double, senior Caitlyn Spain hit a double with two RBIs, and senior Kristen Wheeler faced 11 batters, striking out five.
