Liberty Art Wins Second at State

Liberty Christian is the only school in TAPPS 5A to place in the top six in all four Fine Arts areas: academics and speech, art, vocal music, and instrumental music!

Liberty Christian was awarded second place at the TAPPS state art competition March 25 and 26 at Concordia University in Austin, Texas.

“I was excited that Liberty did so well in its first year in TAPPS 5A,” said Brandon Graham, Upper School art teacher. “I was especially proud of our on-site competitors who were awarded 29 points and placed in every on-site event.”

First place winners included sophomore Laurie Young – Printmaking, Seek and Sketch (Color); senior Whitney Cornett – Photography, Creative and Experimental; junior Youngman Chun – Seek and Sketch (Black and White).

Second place winners included sophomore Colby Dowdle – Photography, Creative and Experimental; and senior Rylee Brown – Photography Unaltered.

Third place winners included sophomore Laurie Young – Painting, On-Site Drawing; junior Abby Deaver – Sculpture; and junior Andrew Bergen – Photography Altered.

Fourth place winners included sophomore Laurie Young – Drawing Color, Computer Rendered Art; senior E.J. Young – Photography Altered; junior Youngman Chun – On-Site Drawing; junior Andrew Bergen – Art History; and junior Kelsey Maddoux – Seek and Sketch (Color).

Fifth place winner was junior Kristin Smith – Art History.

Sixth place winner was senior Kaylyn Murphy – 2D Design.
