Lady Warriors Softball: Three-Game Recap
Last Friday, April 1, the Lady Warriors defeated Prestonwood Christian Academy 13-0 in the fifth inning. Freshman Rachel Rainwater was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters and giving up only two hits.
“The Lady Warriors played solid defense and did a great job at the plate,” said head coach Stephanie Ritter. Senior Kasi Sallee went 2-3, senior Savannah Ewing was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs, sophomore Anna Payne had two doubles with one RBI, and Rachel Rainwater went 3-3.
On Monday, April 4, the Lady Warriors lost to Nolan Catholic 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the score was 6-0. Senior Kristen Wheeler led the inning off with a single, then senior Lauren Piekarski and Kasi Sallee walked to load up the bases. Savannah Ewing hit a triple up the middle, scoring three runs for the Lady Warriors. Rachel Rainwater hit a single to score Savannah Ewing, making the score 6-4.
Thursday, April 7, the Lady Warriors played at Bishop Lynch where they lost 8-7. The Lady Warriors started off strong, scoring four runs in the first inning and two more in the second. The Friars kept chipping away at the scoreboard, and by the sixth inning, they had scored eight runs. The Warriors were able to come back with one more run in the sixth but fell short to score again in the seventh inning. The Lady Warriors had several mental and physical errors.
The Lady Warriors play on Monday, April 11, at Prestonwood. The next home game is Thursday, April 14, against Bishop Dunne, where they will recognize five seniors before the game.
