Band “Plays Its Heart Out” at State
Liberty Christian is the only school in TAPPS 5A to place in the top six in all four Fine Arts areas: academics and speech, art, vocal music, and instrumental music!
Liberty Christian’s Upper School band competed at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state contest on April 9. “Our members played an amazing show,” said Scott Himel, band director.
“Our debut into 5A was as tough as we anticipated, and the competition with the other schools was fierce.
“I am so proud of all of the band members. They played their hearts out for a straight nine-hour set from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and they represented the heart of Liberty proudly!”
Scores 1-4 are used in judging a performance. A score of one (1) is for a superior performance, a score of two (2) is given for an excellent performance, a three (3) is awarded for a good performance, and a four (4) is given for a poor performance.
