Track and Field Team Shines in Meet – Boys Win District
On April 14-15, the boys track and field team won district by more than 100 points when they competed again other TAPPS 5A schools at the District 1-5A Track and Field Championship at John Paul II in Plano, Texas.
“It was a very dominating performance by the Liberty Warriors,” said Trent Vest, head track coach. “Our boys went out and competed really well. I am so proud of our athletes and our coaches.”
Those students who placed in the top four will advance to the regional meet at Houston Christian on April 29. Liberty is advancing 20 boys, many of them in more than one event, and the girls are advancing 8.
Head girls coach Jamie Michalek said, “We are in a very tough district, but I am so proud of the girls’ performances.”
The state meet will be held at Baylor University in Waco the following weekend on May 6 and 7.
