Liberty Returns to Ireland
What began as a one-time Liberty Christian Spring Break mission trip to Ireland in 2010 grew into a partnership that keeps Liberty returning. On that first trip, students assisted another Christian school, Limerick Christian, and a very special friendship between the two schools was formed.
Six months later in October 2010, the pastor of Limerick Christian School along with the senior class visited Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas. The Limerick students attended Liberty classes, went to a football and volleyball game, and participated in a school Bible study and service project.
Last May, a group of 12 Liberty students, faculty, and alumni returned to Limerick to continue its work in supporting its new sister school.
“Our mission trip to Ireland was such an incredible time,” said Liberty youth pastor Kate Davis. “Each student and leader returned with a love for the people of Ireland, serving the Lord and ministering to our brothers and sisters in Christ.”
Liberty students painted the school, served in classrooms, and attended its women’s conference.
Davis said, “We were amazed at how much each of our hosts and hostesses served us tirelessly and how God worked through us to bless and encourage them as well.
“We learned so much from each person we met there, and all of us were forever changed.”
After Limerick Christian’s visit last fall, the school changed its name to Liberty Christian and adopted the same mascot, the Warriors.
“We continue to keep in contact with their students and staff and are blessed by the strong bond that the Lord has given us,” Davis added.
The trip was from May 30–June 13, and attendees were Kate Davis and husband Matt, Liberty faculty members Sarah Lippe, Vickie Morgan, Missy Sharp and Karina Smith, students Abbie Pinkston, Kristin Smith and Paitin Smith, and alumni Luke Fife, Ashley Kowalewski and Lauren Lundblade.
