One-Act Plays Performed at Liberty
Liberty Christian School invites its families and the surrounding communities to its one-act productions of “The Hobbit” and “Talking Pictures” this Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. Each play has been condensed to a 40-minute one act, and Liberty students will compete with these two, one-act plays in a regional competition this weekend.
The evening is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted.
“The Hobbit” is a children’s fantasy novel by J.R.R. Tolkien published in 1937, and it received an award for best juvenile fiction. The book remains popular and is recognized as a classic in children’s literature.
“Talking Pictures” is a play written by Horton Foote in 1990 set in the town of Harrison, Texas, on the eve of the Depression. The events chronicled in this town are shown with gentle humor and deep compassion. Foote was an American playwright and screenwriter perhaps best known for his Academy Award-winning screenplays for the 1962 film “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and 1983 film “Tender Mercies.”
