Liberty Theatre Wins Third in State One-Act Play Contest
Liberty Christian Fine Arts advanced to state in the one-act play contest and won third place with its performance of “Talking Pictures,” a play by Horton Foote that is set in Texas on the eve of the Depression.
The top two schools from each of the four regions in Texas performed at the state contest on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
“I am so proud of this group for so many reasons,” said Misty Baptiste, Fine Arts Department Chair. “Their talent, perseverance, and love for each other are truly incredible.”
In addition, junior Emmy Edwards won Best Actress, sophomore Lauren Massing received All-Star Cast, and seniors Ian Harber and Gabby Marye received Honorable Mention.
“I am truly blessed to work with all of my students and watch them grow in their talent, maturity, and love for the Lord,” said Baptiste.
In addition to Liberty, the schools and shows that competed included Cypress Christian with “Impromptu,” Tyler Grace with “The Crucible,” Bishop TK Gorman with “Eleemosynary,” Cornerstone Christian with “Flowers for Algernon,” John Paul II with “Blood Wedding,” Pan American Presbyterian with “Bocon,” and Southwest Christian with “1918.”
