At the annual Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) Solo and Ensemble competition on March 7, Liberty Christian band students in grades 5–12 band participated in multiple events over the span of four hours. At the event held at Greenhill in Addison, 49 Liberty Christian students competed as soloists and more than 120 students competed in one or more small groups, totally 41 small ensembles.

“The band department would like to congratulate all of the students who competed,” said Scott Himel, Director of Bands. “They worked on their music selections for two months and have learned to play as individual soloists and within small groups, ultimately performing their music without the aid of a director in front of their judges.”

Students are scored by evaluating six items of interest on a point system of 1–5, with a rating of “1” as a superior, top performance.

“We are all very proud of each of these students and their groups,” said Mr. Himel.
